Green Brook combines a busy Route 22 commercial corridor with established residential neighborhoods, Watchung Mountain scenery, and one of Somerset County’s best-known Revolutionary War overlooks.

Green Brook is a compact Somerset County township of about 4.6 square miles and roughly 7,200 residents. The township stretches from the Route 22 corridor toward the Watchung Mountains and takes its name from the stream that flows through the area.
Green Brook Township was formed in 1932 from the remaining portion of North Plainfield Township. Its landscape and local identity are strongly tied to Washington Rock State Park, where George Washington used the Watchung ridge as a lookout during the Revolutionary War.
